Sample a feast of creative techniques and processes. Our taster courses are a great introduction for those wanting to dip their fingers in and get a taste for art & craft.

You will have the opportunity to meet other creative people and most of all - have fun! This course is suitable for creative novices, through to creative practitioners who wish to refresh or extend their skills.
Creative Kickstarter - Introductory Course

Need to get focused, start something new, develop a creative habit, get back to making? 
This introductory course will guide you through different ways to kickstart your creativity, discover your creative leaning and introduce you to new ways of responding to the world around you. The weekly activities will provide you with a toolkit of techniques to generate ideas, identify areas of interest and develop a range of skills in observational drawing, collage and mark making. At the end of the course you will produce a sketchbook bursting with material to stimulate future creative projects whether you are interested in textiles, printmaking, painting or 3D. 

This course is suitable for those who have little or no experience, those who need to find new creative impetus and those that simply want to take a new approach. You can take the course at whatever level you feel comfortable with whether you consider yourself a beginner or you just need a push in the right direction.

Craft Tapas

  1. Gelli plate printing: We love this instantly gratifying image transfer printmaking process - come and create textured, compositional prints onto paper.
  2. Bookbinding: (Japanese) Make a hand bound note book, sketchbook or journal using this decorative binding technique.
  3. Heat Transfer Printing: Celebrate the vibrant colour and versatility of disperse dyes onto fabric. Explore the positive and negative through resists and use as inks to draw with. 
  4. Hand Made Paper: Recycle junk papers and create colourful hand made paper compositions that will be artworks in their own right!
  5. Craft Press printmaking: Combine quick collograph and monoprint techniques and make a series of mini prints using these nifty little craft presses.
