Introduction to Arts & Wellbeing

Next course begins September 2021

Course hours:
Tuesdays, Term time.
10-2 (studio)
3-5 (professional development)

Cost:  £1,450.00

Artpocket and Art at Work have joined forces to deliver this unique programme of study.

The course has been developed in response to the re-emergence of the benefits gained between creative activity and the sense of wellbeing.

As an introduction to the sector this course is aimed at individual art practitioners who wish to develop, technical, conceptual and critical skills necessary to being an artist and learn how to apply them in ways that directly relate to client well being.

The programme explores the recognised significance and impact the Arts can have on our physical, psychological and social wellbeing. Throughout the course students will be supported in developing their own practice in order to stimulate others to recognise and develop their own creativity.

Students will develop the skills and confidence to deliver creative activities and will be introduced to the vital networks available to support individual practitioners. The course will include visiting speakers working within the arts and wellbeing sector and workshops to build awareness of how art can be used to promote wellbeing and increase self esteem in others.

"The course has been a  great opportunity to combine my own creative development with exploring how to
apply a therapeutic approach to working with others within this field. I have already established positive connections and resources with community practitioners and organisations and with my colleagues on the course. Very
absorbing and I am sure the next two terms will consolidate all the variety of themes, techniques and skill development from the initial term. Artpocket's nurturing and flexible guidance and approach suits my learning needs as a mature student."
