Amy Cartwright

Amy Cartwright is a printmaker and illustrator, with the main aim to bring joy, positivity and colour to the world through her prints. Having worked in many art forms, printmaking has become an addictive process which Amy is drawn to and the chosen vessel for her creative voice.  

Amy believes in the power of creativity as a fundamental part of society; moreover, creativity is essential for everyone’s mind, body and soul. Creativity promotes connection and opens up communication. She loves to encourage people to be playful with their art and have a go. 
Amy enjoys obsessively carving tiny details into lino and then getting messy experimenting with bright coloured inks. Colour is an important part of the way she experiences the world. She likes to embrace the joy of the unknown and treats the final printing process as a unique performance. Each print captures a moment in time as the ink transfers from lino to paper. 
North Norfolk coastal living feeds her creativity, and she takes inspiration from the wildlife living close by, as well as a generous helping of vitamin Sea. She loves beachcombing for belemnites, watching spoonbills, oystercatchers and owls, and dreaming up children’s stories about a hare that wears dungarees and has tea parties in the field behind her house.
