Double Take13th - 28th December 2016
OPEN 20 Bank Plain Norwich NR2 4SF |
Students studying for an (ABC) Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media with Artpocket explore imagery from their personal history and experience. Initially the work appeared to be in opposition to each other, one looking at handmade heirlooms and the other focusing on architecture. As time has progressed the gap between the two has narrowed, resonances can be found in the interest in structure and organisation.
Based on her childhood experience of helping to run the family nursery and the growing of rows and rows of chrysanthemums, Ali Page has developed a range of surface patterns looking at the form of the flower and the grids used to support them. Molly Stanners Putland is interested in the buildings and the infrastructure that supports daily life as it helps to make sense of the world. She has developed a series of illustrations looking at the architecture that houses us but also the features that contain, protect and isolate. Within the work we can see a struggle between order and chaos through the application and selection of materials, mark making, composition and imagery. The exhibition reflects the interaction, connection and support between two students at the beginning of their creative career. |
