This is an exhibition of work in progress by students from a
Artpocket studying for an accredited Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. The work on display has been developed in response to a range of projects carried out across the year. Throughout the course students have explored a variety of ways of object and image making through textiles, print media, sculpture, drawing, painting and photography. They are encouraged to be innovative with their materials and consider their inherent qualities to help communicate their ideas more effectively, to develop their voice, their visual language. Students have been encouraged to use the briefs as a starting point from which to develop personal interpretations and challenge their pre-conceptions. They are supported throughout the creative process to take risks in their experimentation, explore ideas in a deep and meaningful way and consider how ideas are received within the public realm. The work has been stimulated through visits from guest lecturers, in house workshops and tutorials. Through our programme of guest lecturers and specialist workshops we look to broaden the experience of the students and encourage them to be ambitious in their work. At Artpocket we help the students create a cohesive body of work, develop their creative identity and have an awareness of their practice in context. |
