A Creative Conversation
Curated by Polly Binns & Rodd Bugg
Multiple Locations in Cley, Norfolk.
July/August 2014 |
The Cley14 Call to Artists encouraged artists to respond to certain visual and verbal elements which Polly and Rod see as central to their own preoccupations - that of a sustained conversation with materials in developing work which inhabits environments both intellectually and emotionally.

The Garden of Sleep.
artpocket collective This work explores local folklore and myth that includes the village of Shipden (now lost to the sea) and its church. Fishermen often recount tales of hearing the toll of the bells beneath them. The narrative refers to the tradition of the Norfolk Gansey, the local fishing culture and the sinister lure of the sea. The imagery plays with the links made between knitting and netting, and the traditional male and female roles within the fishing industry. To find out more about Cley Contemporary Art click here.

Seven Days
Hannelore Smith Scientists from the UEA are tracking the rise and fall of CO2 levels, whilst also predicting the likely paths of travel the CO2 particles have taken to arrive in our local atmosphere.
