Begins 23rd January 2025 5 weeks, Thursdays, 1.30-4pm Course Cost: £165 Tutor: amy cartwright Start the year with a creative kick at Artpocket! Join printmaker Amy Cartwright on this 5 week journey, where we will reinvent the printmaking rules. First, you will carve into lino with linocutting tools to create a key block with your choice of design. Then, you will get creative with gelli printing, tetrapak etching, and screen printing - creating a range of exciting backgrounds to print your key block design onto. There will be time in the sessions for you to explore and develop your printing project. By the end of the course you will have tried lots of different printmaking techniques, and you will leave with a series of printed artworks. This course is Ideal for those who have tried their hand at linocutting and would like to take their prints to the next level, Enjoy the benefits of working with fellow creatives, in a regular class. Printmaking Taster Course
Begins 6th March 2025 5 weeks, Thursdays, 6-8pm Course Cost: £125 (individual sessions can be booked at £30 per session) Tutor: amy cartwright We are excited to deliver this new taster course to introduce you to lots of different printmaking techniques. Over the 5 weeks you will learn the difference between intaglio and relief printing methods, and have a go at some really varied techniques to create your own prints. Amy Cartwright loves all things printy and inky. She loves to share the joy of printmaking and the surprise of each print. She will guide you through each technique with quality tools in the Artpocket Print Studio. All sessions 6pm to 8pm. Arrive at 5.45pm for herbal tea. week 1:Dry point etching Try your hand at Intaglio printing. In this session you will learn all about dry point etching. You will be introduced to the tools and materials, etch your own acetate plate with dry point tools and then print your etching using our craft presses. week 2: Screen printing with paper stencils Create bright and bold prints with the use of our printing screens. In this session you will create your own print using paper stencils while learning about screen printing equipment and techniques. week 3: Monoprinting with Gelli plates Have fun getting creative with this playful monoprinting technique. A great introduction to Gelli plates and a chance to let your creativity flow. week 4: Collagraph printing with Enviromount Discover the wonder and variety of printed textures in this taster workshop introducing collagraph techniques. You will create your own mini collage which can then be printed on our craft presses. week 5: Relief linocut printing sample Learn all about linocut tools and techniques in this short session where you will have a go at carving and printing your own mini linoprint design. Day Workshops
Etching and Printing using Tetrapak cartons
Saturday 11th January 2025 10.30 to 1pm, £30 Tutor: amy cartwright Join printmaker Amy Cartwright in the Artpocket studio for a morning of creative play using recycled Tetrapak cartons and lots of ink! Amy will guide you through the whole process in this joyful and approachable etching technique. You will be cutting, drawing and scratching into the Tetrapak, then you will learn how to ink up your printing plate with etching ink. Finally, you will be able to print your artwork on our etching presses and you will go home with your own unique artwork, and possibly a new addiction to collecting recycled cartons! No experience needed, this session is suitable for beginners, and also those familiar with the technique wishing to have a creative morning in the print studio. All materials will be provided. Introducing coloured layers to your linocut prints- using reduction method
'8th February' is SOLD OUT New date: Sunday 13th April 2025 10.30 to 4.30, £65 The day is suitable for those who have previously attended a beginners linocut course or those with an understanding of basic linocut techniques already. This workshop is an opportunity to proiritise your creativity and switch off from daily life by absorbing yourself in printmaking, in this friendly and supportive workshop.
