This course offers an exciting opportunity to develop your creative identity through a rigorous and challenging programme of intensive study.

Course Duration: One Academic Year (three terms)
When: 12 hours tutor contact per week, (timetable TBC)
Where: Second Floor of Lion House, Muspole Street, Norwich, NR3 1DJ
Please note, there is only access via two flights of stairs to the studio.
Who is this course for?
Anyone wishing to progress onto Higher Education in a creative subject area or creative employment and self employment.
You may also be interested in our Portfolio course, for those starting out their creative education journey.
Entry Qualifications:
Formal qualifications are not essential for entry to the course, and all applicants will be assessed on merits of their visual portfolio. Applicants will be required to attend an interview and bring a along a portfolio of creative work as well as carry out a short written task set by the tutors to assess suitability for the course and the level of work expected.
About the course
Our experienced tutors will help you to:
Within the Art Intensive course you will learn the core foundational skills of drawing, painting and sculpture, as well as more contemporary skills in performance, animation, installation, sound, textiles, book arts, and printmaking. You will gain critical knowledge and understanding of context within art and design methodologies and apply these to develop your own creative practice focused on either art or design.
You will also be introduced to in-depth contextual research and develop study skills including sketchbook annotation, documentation and reflection of research and creative work. You will develop your academic research and writing skills as well as analytical and critical thinking.
As the course progresses you will create self-led project briefs in line with your chosen creative discipline.
By the end of the course you should expect to be an independent thinker, self motivated, resourceful, innovative, and fired up with ideas and a toolkit of techniques and processes to realise them.
This course will prepare you for study at degree level and set you on your journey to a creative career.
We are an independent institute, which has given us the freedom to develop an in-house Foundation course as we believe it should be delivered.

Portfolio
This course will enable you to build a strong portfolio that demonstrates broad exploration of the creative process and evidence your commitment and determination towards your chosen creative future.
Professional Development
There will be opportunities throughout the year to exhibit with Artpocket and thus promote your creative practice. You will develop self - promotion materials, gather knowledge and experience of curation and display.
You will join an established community of creative practitioners, developing a network of professional contacts.
Experience
Artpocket regularly run study visits widen your cultural and creative experience and feed into your own art practice.
Progression
Those undertaking the Art Intensive course will be wishing to progress onto Higher Education in a creative subject area or creative employment / self employment. Artpocket tutors have a highly successful track record of supporting individuals to gain BA and MA degree places at institutes across the UK and abroad. Support with UCAS, portfolio building and applications for creative employment is embedded into the course.
Assessment
Throughout the course there will be regular assessment deadlines, where you will be graded at Pass/Merit/Distinction in response to a developed set of assessment criteria. Although this is a non-accredited course, the level of assessment criteria will be aimed at level 3/4. After successful completion of the course you will receive an in-house certificate.
