Scientists from the University of East Anglia have spent 5½ years tracking the rise and fall of CO2 levels, whilst also predicting the likely paths of travel the CO2 particles have taken to arrive in our local atmosphere. Through the data you can see the seasonal cycles; effectively the planet breathing. The equilibrium has been disturbed as CO2 levels are rising steadily. Through my drawings I aim to visualise these intangible patterns and rhythms within nature and highlight the detrimental impact that human activity has on our environment. My background training in textiles leads me to explore drawing through familiar materials and processes; Favouring a darning needle over a pencil and playing with the possibilities of utilising fabrics as resists, embossing plates and mark making tools. |
